U.S. crude oil production averaged nearly 12.2 MMbpd in April 2019, an increase of 1.7 MMbpd compared with April 2018. In EIA's July Petroleum Supply Monthly (PSM), production in May was 12.1 MMbpd, only slightly below April's record high. The EIA pegged its 2020 WTI oil price forecast at $55.71 a barrel, down 6% from its previous view. It also cut its Brent crude price forecast by 5.5% to $61.25 for 2020. U.S. crude oil production will keep setting annual records until 2027 and will remain higher than 14 million bpd through 2040, thanks to continuously growing shale production, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Thursday in its Annual Energy Outlook 2019 with projections to 2050. On the other hand, the EIA publishes more accurate monthly figures, but only on a several month lag. The most recent data is for May, which has U.S. oil production at 9.169 mb/d. The EIA’s September STEO also pegged year-end oil production in the U.S. at 9.3 million bpd, and average 2018 production at 9.8 million bpd. EIA: OPEC Production To Fall By 1 Million Bpd This Year. The Energy Information Administration expects OPEC’s combined crude oil production this year to be 1 million barrels per day lower than in 2018, when the cartel produced an average 31.92 million bpd, the authority said in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook.
